Angry Words 03:14
I hear the angry words you say Put them in my pocket for a rainy day Sitting in the darkness on my own Curtains closed and all alone Something ain’t quite right here Something that I should fear Maybe it’s just something I don’t know Stuck in the middle and I’m confused At the lifestyle that you choose You’re on the town so fancy free That’s one thing I’ll never be Something ain’t quite right here… TV man tells me how to think His words are hazy and they drive me to drink I can’t compare his life with mine Mine’s a dream where his is fine
2.
Listening 05:23
Morning, tomorrow is now here Sunrise of your pointless fears Yawning just lying in your bed Thinking about the words you said And the light fades from your eyes now Do you see what I can see? And I know that you have heard it all before Are you listening for me? Stumbling from your shrouded room Outside into the garden’s gloom Thinking about the day ahead Hating the words inside your head And the light fades from your eyes now… Dreams will continue while you sleep Waiting for the dreams you seek Away from the harsh glare of the stage Wishing someone could turn the page
3.
I took a grainy photo of me and you It’s everything you say and everything you do You put it in a paper bag all tied up with string You read all about it, it’s not a pretty thing It’s just another world that she doesn’t know Another mixed up letter and another sold out show Get up from your bed, another rainy day Wash the dreams out from your eyes and I’ll do what you say Pick up the paper and nail your face to the wall You’re waiting on the telephone but no-one ever calls It’s just another world that she doesn’t know… That’s impossible Take another photograph and fall asleep on the road Cold War satellites are listening to morse code I took a grainy photo and pinned it to the wall She used to wear stilettos but now she’s not that tall
4.
Sometimes I wonder what this all means The days slip quickly by so it seems So it seems I feel the love but do you see me What goes on in your mind upsets me Upsets me Time is my friend I think that you know My mind is saying please don’t go Don’t go I hear your love all things they will be Hear me my love but don’t discard me Discard me You’re like a rainbow here in my mind I never ask don’t know what I’ll find What I’ll find
5.
Paintbox 04:33
A new coat of paint, a new pair of shoes I’m something I aint never been How can I lose? If you see me say hi, I might not reply I’m crossing the street I’m still worth a try A brand new façade to hide all the pain I’m trying real hard I’m circling the drain If you see me around, leave me alone Eyes to the ground, minding my own Alive on the outside, alone on the inside Head in the upside But my heart’s in the deep dive
6.
Green Devil 04:53
The bottle stands full with liquid green A tortured throes of ta demon’s dream A sugar cube on a silver spoon A rocket ride to the seven moons Fly me away green devil Send me to sleep and I’ll dream of you The city grey in winter time The coloured thoughts of a fertile mind With lemon balm and aniseed Wormwood, Flag and Fennel weed Fly me away green devil… The bottle spent of its liquid green The carnival is a sorry scene The light descends as the twilight fades The warmth retreats as the ghosts invade
7.
I’ve been found in all the lonely streets in town Think I’m just sinking down Can’t take a trick, the bottle and pills just make me sick It’s something that I cannot fix Some things I think I should ignore I find myself lying on the floor Your voice soft, stuck deep within my head I forget what I have said I find the lines on the mirror in this place Are like the lines on my face Somethings I think I should ignore… Down on Sullivan’s Creek where you used to meet me We’re walk around every day of the week when living was easy Now I walk around in my gloom We drink wine and eat cashews And now there’s nothing that I can do I’m so lonely without you Every day the girls have changed their names And nothing seems the same
8.
Raindrunk 06:46
The five o’clock shadow show Listening to the radio and hoping for the better The weather girl has had her say Another front is on its way it’s about to get wetter And it’s been like this for days and days With no sign that things will change It’s enough to make you want to cry High in the rain drunk sky I remember sunny days At the sandbar catching rays Endless weekends by the waves Rain drunk city miles away There’s nothing we can do but sit Waiting for the storm to hit staying horribly cheerful The weather vane has blown away And if we see the sun today we be tropically cheerful And I’m overcast from head to toe Under the influence of the east coast low It’s going to take us years to dry High in the rain drunk sky She was standing there in the cold and pouring rain The girl from my dreams, tears flowing down the drain Tomorrow all my sighs and everything hereafter Reminds me of the sun and wine and smiles and laughter I bought a bunch of flowers but they wilted in the sun I offered them to her, she just smiled and off she ran Tomorrow all my sighs and everything hereafter Reminds me of the sun and wine and smiles and laughter Rain, falls softly to the ground Rain, the lifeblood of the town And rain, it makes the desert green The dust is now unseen, grass where it had been In the end it all depends on rain
9.
Because I do 03:35
If you ask me why I want you it’s because I do If you ask me for a reason, it’s all those little things you do If you wanna know why, I couldn’t even try To explain these feelings I have inside So when you ask me why I want you it’s because I do If you ask me why I want you it’s because I do If you ask me for a reason, it’s all those little things you do If you wanna know why I couldn’t even try To explain these feelings I have inside So when you ask me why I want you it’s because I do It’s so hard when you know it And you just can’t show it Sometimes you wanna give it all away It’s never been easy or so I’m told But I hear it just gets better As you grow old together If you ask me why I need you it’s because I do If you ask me for a reason it’s all the little things you do I don’t know how I’d survive without you here by my side So when you ask me why I love you it’s because I do
10.
Trying 03:48
I’m here sitting on my own Where I’m going I don’t know There’s darkness all around me Where is the sun so I can see? You know that I’m really trying And things are better than before I think I can hold it all together All you want and then maybe more Waiting here for your phone call I’m so cold but I don’t mind at all Where I am and where you want to be You know that’s alright by me You know that I’m really trying… Light floods in through my window Nightmares they must surely go Morning time and here comes the light Later on comes another night
11.
Leaves on the ground are what she sees She moved her life to the country, now all alone When she’s sitting in her chair She thinks of his soft words, they’re oh so clear Time will heal it all Time will heal it all my friend Drinking wins wine and playing games It’s okay it’s not the same for her today And when she’s standing at the door She dreams of words that he once said to her before Time will heal it all… And he said, stay with me Please don’t leave, ‘til I can no longer breathe Sunny days are what she loves To walk the fields and know the love of the loved
12.
I was sitting with her in the bedroom when there was a call upon the phone She looked at me with a sad smile and told me that she really must go home Nothing I can say to change a thing today And if I could I tell what I’d do I think I want to stay with you Then there was no hesitation as she left there to catch the plane I wonder if she’s now in England boating on the Thames in summer rains Get me out of this world It’s really not that fair What is my destination? If she’s not there? Nothing I can say to change a thing today…
13.
Summer time sun and the winter rain Smoke blowing through the hurt and the pain In the springtime Leaves on the ground and the stars in your eyes Growing older by the day life is passing you by Such a good time You know I’ve seen it all before I’ve felt the ups and downs seen the writing on the wall Love lost once can’t hide the pain Life is a merry-go-round inside my brain

about

The fourth full length album from Canberra based mod rockers the Feldons, this is an album that takes the listener on a musical journey through soft pop, hard edged blues, straight rock and roll that at times could almost cross over into mid-70s English punk, it contains melancholy lyrics, uplifting melodies and intricately crafted segued pieces as well as being a collection of tight, group-composed grooves and breezy tunes. Harking back to their 2012 album ‘Goody Hallett and Other Stories’, as opposed to their more pop oriented 2014 release ‘Human Graffiti’, it showcases exceptionally strong song writing and an intricate understanding of musical composition, from searing guitar riffs to melodic fuzzy bass lines, bold brass stabs, poppy 60s style keys, dramatic strings and dynamic and intricate drum patterns. It is an album that will remain important for many years to come and should be something in everyone’s collection.
